A brooding Manhattan variation using amaro in place of sweet vermouth.
The Black Manhattan replaces sweet vermouth with amaro, creating a darker, spicier, more herbal Manhattan. Stirred cold, it shows deep caramel, spice, and bitter-herbal notes with a lingering finish. It is bold but balanced.

“Created by Todd Smith at Bourbon & Branch, the Black Manhattan helped usher amaro into mainstream American cocktail culture.”
Use Averna or similar amaro for balanced depth.
