The Fitzgerald is a modern classic that essentially fixes the Gin Sour by adding Angostura bitters. This small addition provides a cinnamon-clove depth that anchors the lemon and sugar, preventing the drink from tasting like simple lemonade. It serves as the 'sour' counterpart to the 'spirit-forward' Gin Old Fashioned. It is widely considered the best way to serve a shaken gin drink without egg white.
