The Michelada is a savory beer cocktail that functions as a refresher and a restorative. It dresses up a light Mexican lager with fresh lime juice and a custom blend of savory sauces (Worcestershire, soy, Maggi, hot sauce), served in a glass with a salted chili rim. It is essentially a Bloody Mary made with beer instead of tomato juice (though 'Michelada Cubana' versions add tomato). It is savory, tart, effervescent, and umami-rich.

Did you know?

The name is a contraction of 'mi chela helada' (my cold beer), reflecting its function as the ultimate way to dress up a cold lager.
