Ramos Gin Fizz
A New Orleans gin fizz with citrus, cream, egg white, and orange blossom water shaken until frothy.
The Ramos Gin Fizz is a New Orleans classic known for its luxurious texture and long, dry shake. Gin, lemon, and lime provide a bright, structured base, while cream and egg white create a thick, meringue-like foam. Orange blossom water adds a delicate floral aroma that floats above the citrus and botanicals. Traditionally served in a tall Collins glass without ice, it should be airy, cool, and softly effervescent.

Ingredients
- • 1.5 oz gin
- • 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
- • 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
- • 1 oz simple syrup
- • 1 oz heavy cream
- • 1 egg white
- • 2-3 drops orange blossom water
- • 1-2 oz chilled soda water
Did you know?
“Henry C. Ramos created the drink in the late 19th century at his New Orleans bar, with early accounts noting teams of 'shaker boys' to handle the long shaking. The drink became closely associated with New Orleans hotels and brunch culture in the early 20th century. Wondrich and other historians cite period newspaper pieces describing how labor-intensive the drink was during busy service. Modern bartenders use techniques like reverse dry shaking or using blenders to approximate the classic texture with less strain.”
Bartender's Note
Use a thorough dry shake before adding ice to build foam, and do not overdo the orange blossom water; a few drops are enough.
