The Bronx was the Cosmopolitan of the pre-Prohibition era—the first cocktail to popularize the use of fruit juice in a martini-style build. It combines gin with both sweet and dry vermouth (a 'perfect' base) and fresh orange juice. The result is a soft, low-acid drink that bridges the gap between an aperitif and a fruit cocktail. While it fell out of fashion for decades, it remains a critical piece of cocktail history.
