The Porto Flip is a classic egg drink that blends brandy and ruby port into a thick, dessert-leaning cocktail. Brandy adds structure, port contributes wine sweetness and color, and the whole egg creates a dense foam and creamy texture. Shaken hard and served up with nutmeg, it sits closer to a flip than a sour. The IBA includes it among traditional flips.

Porto Flip served in a chilled coupe, deep red-brown with foam, dusted with nutmeg.

Bartender's Note

Dry-shake first for texture, then shake with ice. Use a fresh egg and a ruby port with enough body to stand up to the brandy.
