The Sherry Cobbler is one of the most influential cocktails in history, directly responsible for popularizing the drinking straw and the use of ice in drinks. It combines the nuttiness of sherry (typically Amontillado or Oloroso) with sugar and fresh fruit, served over a mountain of crushed ice. The dilution from the ice mellows the wine, making it an incredibly hydrating and sessionable drink. It is traditionally decorated elaborately with berries, citrus wheels, and mint.
