The Pumpkin Hot Toddy is mug weather: whiskey, lemon, hot water, and a mix of honey and pumpkin spice syrup. Heat blooms the spice while lemon keeps the drink from turning into a dessert latte. It is a straightforward fall toddy for cold nights and sore-throat season.

Did you know?
“The toddy is older than pumpkin spice by a few centuries; the modern fall version simply swaps part of the sweetener for a seasonal syrup.”

Bartender's Note
Use hot water, not boiling, so the whiskey stays audible. Bourbon or Irish whiskey both work. If you only have pumpkin spice syrup, skip the honey and use a half-ounce of syrup.
