A tropical-herbal shooter mixing Jägermeister, coconut rum, and pineapple.
The Surfer on Acid subverts the aggressive reputation of Jägermeister by pairing it with sweet coconut rum and pineapple juice. The result is a murky, tropical shot where the herbal bitterness of the Jäger adds a tiki-like spice to the fruit. It is surprisingly complex and drinkable, tasting of pineapples, anise, and coconut. It was a staple of the West Coast surf/skate punk scene in the 1990s.

“Bartender Eric Tecosky created the Surfer on Acid in Los Angeles in the 1990s while championing Jägermeister as a mixable spirit.”
Can also be served as a short drink over ice, but the shot format is the cultural standard.
