The Tequila Sour uses blanco tequila, lime, and sugar to create a tart, aromatic sour where agave earthiness cuts through citrus. When shaken with egg white, it gains a silky cap and lifted aromatics. Compared with the Margarita, it omits orange liqueur for a leaner, more focused structure. Good versions highlight peppery, vegetal notes from quality tequila.
